This is how it starts
Glueing, nori urushi, first step. A mix of kanbaiko (rice flour) en ki-urushi (lacquer) is used.
The surface is repaired with ji, or sabi: this is a complex mixture of jinoko and tonoko powder with ki urushi
Practising painting with bengara urushi  (maki-e)
After polishing a layer of black lacquer is applied.
